Road Rules
In an on-going effort to maintain and improve your safety and well-being, Code Enforcement adheres to and will enforce the following laws.

  • All motor vehicle accidents must be reported immediately; any damage to vehicle or property constitutes an accident. If an accident occurs on private property and without injury, contact the Colorado State Patrol
  • Be aware that driving conditions on mountain roadways may change suddenly. During the winter months, we recommend well manufactured all-season or studded snow tires. During the summer months, heavy rains may produce flash floods or mud slides on our roadways. If you are unsure of the depth, do not cross.
  • Car camping or camping of any kind is prohibited within town limits. There are several campgrounds available in the region.
  • Clear all of your vehicle's windows before driving.
  • Idling your vehicle is prohibited.
  • Passing is not allowed on any roadway.
  • Pedestrians always have the right-of-way so please be courteous and attentive.
  • Pull your vehicle over to the side of the road (when it is safe to do so) when you have more than five vehicles trailing behind you.
  • RV parking requires you to contact our Code Enforcement Officer to arrange for parking access.
  • Use of engine brakes is prohibited.
